For Immediate Release
September 26, 2009
Library Joining SCLends
Dorchester County Library is joining SCLends, a
consortium of 10 county library systems within the
state. SCLends will increase our patrons’ access to
materials from approximately 120,000 volumes to over 2
million volumes, providing them with increased ability
to borrow books and other resources!
As Dorchester County Library prepares to go live SCLends
October 15th, our patrons will be affected by
several changes. During preparations for migration to
this new library automation software, several patron
friendly functions will be lost. The functions affected
are as follows:
No holds can be made after this date until
10-16-09. Print reading history
if you want to keep it.
Last day to print Reading History.
Permanent reading lists will not be
carried over to the new system.
Patrons' online access to My Account
New patron registration and updates to existing patron
accounts will be unavailable until 10-16-09.
new automation software will alter some of the patron
services offered by the library. Printed and telephone
holds notices will no longer be sent. The Library is
encouraging patrons who use those features to switch to
email notification. Using the email option will ensure
that individuals receive timely notification when
reserve requests are available. Future upgrades of the
software will offer improved functionality.
